Halo CE

I purchased Halo CE for my PC and I can get it installed to the point I click play game on the main screen but then it doesn't go past that point and closes.  I have Windows 8.1 and after reading some sites was advised I needed to download patch 1.10.  The link to that patch is no longer valid.  I was wondering where I should go to get this patch and whether that would fix the issue of the game not working on Windows 8.1.  Halo 2 isn't working either but I haven't had time to research that yet.

 

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.  I have never played either game before and was excited to finally see what al the hype was about in regards to these games.  Thanks!

I remember when I played HCE all the time as a kid-- there's no way I could deny helping someone get into it!

Hopefully its not too technical to fix Windows to run Halo: CombaT Evolved and other CD/DVD based games

 

Microsoft decided to beat up on old games, like who do they think they are?

 

I also wrote a loader for Halo: Combat Evolved to automatically detect the screen resolution and use it.
