343iBot Posted June 9, 2020 Report Share Posted June 9, 2020 Destiny 2 is officially coming to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and players won't have to pay to make the transition to next-generation consoles. Bungie shared the news as part of its reveal event for Season 11 and the future of the game, and although details remain scant, we do have the outline of how it plans to handle next-gen. Destiny 2 will launch on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, and by purchasing the new expansion, Beyond Light, you'll be entitled to access on next-gen systems. Bungie says that Beyond Light supports Smart Delivery, so buying it on Xbox One will get you access on Series X. Similarly, although Sony has not announced an official Smart Delivery-style service, a Beyond Light purchase on PS4 will get you it on PS5. This setup does raise at least one big question, as it doesn't sound as if you'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free if you buy Beyond Light on Xbox One, or to Xbox Series X from PS4. Cross-save should mean you can make the transition without issue, providing you're willing to pay.
