343iBot Posted June 9, 2020 Report Share Posted June 9, 2020 While Bungie's Destiny 2 reveal livestream was largely focused on content that will be playable this year--including Season 11, which begins today--one of the most exciting bits of news concerned a feature that we'll have to continue waiting for: cross-play. During the stream, Bungie confirmed that it is looking to enable Destiny 2 cross-play, but that it's something we won't see until 2021 at the earliest. There were no specific details on how and when this will happen, but it's nonetheless terrific news and something Destiny fans have been clamoring for for years. A form of cross-play is coming that will span console generations within the same family before the full-blown implementation. Bungie announced that Destiny 2 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with free upgrades for current-gen console owners. But if you or a friend upgrade to a next-gen system before the other, you won't necessarily be split apart. Xbox One and Xbox Series X players will be able to play together, while PS4 and PS5 players will be able to do so.
