343iBot Posted June 11, 2020 Report Share Posted June 11, 2020 The next major patch for Borderlands 3 will go live at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT today, and it brings many changes to Gearbox's looter shooter. In terms of new content, the patch adds a new Takedown--raid-esque endgame missions designed for a full team of four top-level players--titled Takedown at the Guardian Breach. It also makes major changes to the way players revive their downed allies. Multiple players can now attempt to revive a teammate at the same time, which brings them back up faster. The patch also takes aim at the game's Mayhem mode, which was retooled into "Mayhem 2.0" by a recent patch. High-level opponents have had their health and shield pools reduced, and several powerful modifiers have been adjusted so they no longer stack together. However, chests and vending machines still do not support Mayhem-level gear. As part of the Mayhem adjustment, several of the game's most powerful weapons were nerfed, including the sniper rifle Sandhawk, which fired so many particles that it caused the game to chug. The next DLC for Borderlands 3, Bounty of Blood, releases later this month on June 25. This update was previously delayed in support of Black Lives Matter protests. However, several writers have taken exception to the game's humorous embrace of Lovecraftian themes without unpacking the acute bigotry of the man who birthed those ideas.
