Escape From Tarkov patch 12.8 is now live following last week's delay. Like the last major update, there is no wipe associated with 12.8. The update size appears to be about 675 MB, which is significantly smaller than July's update, but the changes are significant. The addition of a heavy bleeding status effect is particularly important to note, but 12.8 also adds the compass, a handful of new weapons and skills, and more. The new heavy bleeding status effect will require its own special item, the newly added esmarch tourniquet, to remedy individually, though some medical kits will also be able to cure it. Unlike the normal bleeding status, heavy bleeding will leave a trail of blood that other players can see.

Also new in patch 12.8 is the compass, which players can equip in the new unlootable slot, a quick drop hotkey for backpacks, new equipment and weapons (including the M45A1 pistol, KS-23 shotgun, RFB rifle, and several new mods), new skills (crafting and hideout management), and tons of balance and quality of life adjustments.
