343iBot Posted December 11, 2020 Report Share Posted December 11, 2020 The Game Awards 2020 brought the announcement of action-RPG Crimson Desert, developed by South Korean developer Pearl Abyss, which is known for Black Desert Online. The gameplay footage featured impressive visuals of a fantasy world inhabited by bandits, wolves, and dragons. It releases for consoles and PC sometime in winter 2021. Crimson Desert is a third-person action-RPG that looks similar in motion to games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The gameplay trailer started with the player character walking through various areas of the world, including medieval towns, barren deserts, and lush forests. That's followed by close-ups of conversations and characters before swords clash and we're thrusted into combat. The combat looks brutal with colliding steel causes sparks to fly. In one particularly impressive moment, we see the player flying a dragon as it shakes off enemy fire. The story follows protagonist Macduff, who leads a band of mercenaries who seek to fight for their land and reclaim it. The characters in the trailer include various members of Macduff's gang.
