Arbiter
Why did Bungie and Microsoft break up will they ever reunite And what is bungie doing with activison?
Covy Killer
Bungie.net would be the place to ask this sort of question. That's not to say this forum isn't appropriate, it's that that one is more appropriate.
HAMBURGLER
im honestly not sure, you would be better off if you asked on bungie.net
Flly
why did they break up?.. because bungie had a caontract with Microsoft for a game trilogy... Along the road they made halo wars and odst and reach, I'm assuming their contract was up so now bungie is working for ps3 or Sony.. all of 343 employees are people who used to work for bungie but got let off because of advancing technology and a younger crowd or other reasons.... Hope that sums it up for you =] Edited July 11, 2011 by Flly
Spectral Jester
had a 10 year contract and it expired.

John-117
Microsoft was thinking about having another contract with bungie but decided not to because bungie wanted to bring halo to the PS3
saifa117
Oh that makes sense because ps3 was not by microsoft and xbox 360 was. and microsoft wanted to make more money. That makes 100 percent sense
Spectral Jester
At least Halo is in good hands 343 are fans of the game for one. That is a massive plus for me, and there are a couple of ex bungie employees at 343, nowhere near the amount people think
DocSpartanO07
Bungie was owned by MS, Bungie bought themselves back as a independant developer. They lost the rights to Halo in the deal. There will never be Halo for PS3. Bungie doesnt work for Sony, they are just developing multi-platform games now. I have no idea why Bungie went for a contract with Activision, but they are developing some titles for them now. Bungie left MS simply because they felt they had outgrown them and wanted to do something other than Halo, and going independant opens up alot of new doors for their creative talents. I was excited to see what they could do without a large corporation on their backs, but now, I dont really care seeing how they got in bed with Activision. Once again their creativity will be choked by corporate bean counters. I will give Bungie's next title a chance.....only if it is avalible for 360 also, if not....I hope they fail. Reptar
Indeed. I'd just hate for Activision to ruin what they had going on. I don't even see why Bungie would pair up with them. Bungie does the strangest things. . .
A Zombie Riot
I don't even see why Bungie would pair up with them. Bungie does the strangest things. . . Bungie wants to reach a larger audience. And when they were with microsoft, Halo could only be on the Xbox. They want the PS3 people to to love them. They already got a lot of people fans because of Halo, they just want more.

Mr Biggles
to be honest, i don't think it was simply bungie breaking up, i think it was more to the fact that microsoft got what they wanted, knew they weren't gonna be as successful with their next game, and said bye bye, so activision decided to step in, and boom, that's where they are now.
