McChicken343
You aint no Halo player from what it seems and don't want anything lol Those things are not essential for the success of Halo 4. Don't you call me a non Halo fan.
TerribleTimbo
I would like having actual skill ranks back, but a leaderboard isn't important to me. As for clans, they were essentially just a second friends list. But then again clan playlists were cool in the sense that you would never really play against people that didn't normally play together, and that alone would already make the games more interesting than social playlists. L4B
Those things are not essential for the success of Halo 4. Don't you call me a non Halo fan. why can I not call you a non halo fan if you don't agree with what's been mentioned in this thread? You didn't give any reason to why and majority of the stuff spoken about in this discussion will bring halo back from what everyone knows it to be... and a game similar to those that we all spent hours/days/years playing. so if you gonna disagree at least explain why and maybe then you wont have ppl questioning your random post saying ''No'' simplesssssssssss
Pink Lemonade
agree that the ranking system and the clan system are vital to the halo community. Reach demostrated what halo is like without somthing to drive the community into thinking winning is very important, terribly boring and not challeging at all. Community is what halo has over all console games, so 343 listen to this guy bring these things back.
Shpeshal Ed
For Halo to get back to where it was, on top of the gaming pile, it needs to keep things simple, and instead of trying to take bits and pieces from CoD that affect gameplay both in SP and MP, it needs to go back to what made it the game it is. Any changes should be subtle, and/or fit within the sandbox and not greatly affect the Shooting/Melee/Grenade triforce of attack they set up way back when. 1) Amour abilities, remove them. They added next to nothing in SP, and ruined Multiplayer. Hence why SWAT is still the second most populated playlist. It's pure and about shooting. 2) Open Encounters. Part of what made CE so great were the really open ended encounters. Even though technically, Halo was fairly linear, it was designed in asuch a way (intentionally or unintentionally) in a way that didn't make it obvious that it was linear. Reach pretty much just funnelled you to the next area. 3) Up the base movement speed. No need for sprint if your standard pace is quick enough, at most you could have... 4) Thrusters. As the trailer hinted. It looks like we'll have thrusters. These could be a great compromise between sprint and no sprint. The combination of thrusters for a quick evade or even double jump along with a quicker base speed would be awesome, and would even add an extra element to the multiplayer battles, which would still allow MP maps that have an element of verticality to them. 5) Matchmaking and Ranking. This could make or break the multiplayer. I think they need ot take it back to the Halo 2/3 system of win/loss affecting rank, but at the same time, your rank needs to be universal across all game modes like in Gears 3. But obviously the mode played and your performance would affect how quickly you rank up. But for this to work, the matchmaking really needs to be SPOT on. None of this crap where in experienced players get lumped with elite players and the experienced is ruined. 6) Bots. It's 2012, and eventually, all online communities drop off or completely die. There's no excuse for not having bots. Hell, even Call of Duty has them now. Perfect Dark Zero even had them. 7) Get rid of online achievements. They serve no purpose but to frustrate people, and ruin the experience for people taking it more seriously. Not to mention, many are impossible to get once the community dies off or is overrun with cheats and glitchers. Call of Duty is the most popular shooter on the planet and has no online achievements and yet the community is still the most active. What does that tell you? 8. Upgradeable weapons in singple player. I think this could be amazing if done properly. If Halo 4 focuses on the Forerunners, why not have MC and Cortana discovering different forerunner tech that can then be applied to the Chiefs weapons? Allowing for secondary fire functions, boost in power etc? I think this could work really well within Halo's existing combat and story structure without dramantically altering the way it plays or how encounters are handled. If anything, I think it could enhance them. 9) Visual adjustment. Yes, Halo has a 'look' that it's known for, but that doesn't mean you can't give the game a more updated look at the expense of the art style. Drop the superfluous stuff no one cares about and put your engine to work in a way that matters. Halo needs to have visual impact again like Halo 1 and 2 did. Halo 1 and 2 were the best looking games on console during their time, and while I doubt it's possible Halo 4 will get anywhere near being the king of visuals on console, it should get a real upgrade from 3/Reach. I look at what 3rd parties like Crytek and id can do with the 360 hardware, so there's no excuse for a 1st party not to be able to get at least close to that level. 10) No flood. They suck. I know that's more than 3, but I think if all those things happen, it will go a long way to putting Halo back up where it belongs.
L4B
Good post mate, couldn't agree more with what you mentioned... defiantly agree how they should go back to the same style as H2/H3 and not follow the same footsteps as COD and adding in all this stuff which we don't need! Halo was fine how it was and see H4 making it back to the top if they follow their own style and not those who strive off of the Halo Series being so successful in the past
BlackToothSaber
Referring to the original post made- I was interested until you used this thread to broadcast how cool you are. You win games 51 to -1? You've made thousands of players quit Halo? Seriously dude don't include that kind of bullcrap information in a thread about making halo 4 better. If its a thread about measuring the size of your junk and saying its bigger and better, go for it. But thats not what we're here for, now is it?
