I agree, I enjoyed using the SMG in Halo 3. Was powerful all by itself, and with the mauler.

 

I always used the SMG over the Assault rifle as much as possible, so I do hope a return is coming.

i like the SMG, it's more powerful then the AR but less powerful then the br/DMR, the perfect weapon for close /medium range.

I'm the only person that voted no haha. Not that I dislike the smg necessarily, but more because I dislike dual weilding in general and if the smg was brought back then chances are dual weilding would return as well.

As long as it's balanced properly, it's fine. It's a decent enough counter to close-range weapons and the only real problem in Halo 3 was that its role overlapped too much with the Assault Rifle. It just felt a little redundant, and considering it'd had a damage and accuracy buff it was also a little overpowered.

 

If it returns, I wouldn't mind as long as it's less accurate and weaker round-for-round than the Assault Rifle. And of course, the recoil should definitely make a return, it wouldn't be the same without it!

I loved the SMG as well. Powerful but in Halo 3 everyone had just shields and not health so everyone had equal life. I hope they bring it back.
