Lᴜᴋᴇ
IGN: The next-generation Xbox may be codenamed "Durango." Crytek senior technical designer Sean Tracy wrote the following message on Twitter: "Enjoying the Durango developers summit in London. So far, great swag and interesting talks." Tracy deleted the tweet soon after it went live. Keep in mind that Durango likely wouldn't be the final name of the project, similar to the Wii U's Project Cafe codename. Previously, the successor to the Xbox 360 has been largely referred to as Xbox 720, though that codename has never officially been sanctioned by Microsoft. Rumors last year also suggested that the system was codenamed "Loop." For now, Microsoft hasn't made any announcements about its next console, and all codenames are only a rumor. Spectral Jester
i got this info as well More next-gen console rumours now, as a Crytek developer has today tweeted that the next Xbox 360 is apparently codenamed 'Durango', following a developers summit held in London. Crytek Senior Technical Designer, Sean Tracy wrote the offending tweet on his Twitter feed earlier today: "Enjoying the Durango developers summit in London. So far, great swag and interesting talks." The tweet was hastily removed by Tracy, just like the majority of revelatory tweets, which could well speak volumes. Does that mean that there was a next-generation Xbox in London recently? It would certainly appear so. Past rumours regarding the codename Durango have also been swirling around the web, adding extra credibility to this latest tidbit. So, apparently Microsoft's next console currently shares its name with a state in Mexico. Will we be seeing an announcement for the next Xbox later this year though? Who knows? All you have to do is stay tuned, folks! [Via Eurogamer]
Absolute Dog
I have seen some similar information, I will post it below. There are newer reports of something different as well. Xbox 720: To be announced at E3 2012? "Will Microsoft redress the balance at next year’s LA gaming expo? First talk of an E3 2012 unveiling surfaced when Crysis 2 devs Crytek were reported to have claimed that the new console was E3 2012-bound, and that the company was working on a new Timesplitters title for the new Xbox 720. Crytek have since refuted the claims, but BGR now say that they have it on good authority from a source “with knowledge of Microsoft’s plans within the company’s Entertainment and Devices Division” that the Xbox 720 will be announced at E3 2012. They were also told that Microsoft has been working on the new console since 2006, which supports comments made by Microsoft EMEA Vice President Chris Lewis way back in 2006."
