Internships/Opportunities to Gain Experience

I'm currently a high school senior about to graduate in hopes like many others to make it in the video game industry. While I do have a passion for video games in general, my real focal point is Multiplayer level design. I haven't been exposed to much modding for PC titles or individual games/projects like a lot of the coding and other designers have which worries me. My real passion and experience began with forge and my background of creative fantasy writing. I think the two topics combined are great for inspiration in the design of the multiplayer maps that Bungie and now 343 develop.

I really would love to get an education focusing on this and other aspects that are necessary like basic coding, lighting effects, 3D animation, etc. before attempting all of this because I'm completely lost on where to start and feel that it will take me awhile to learn the ropes.

What I'm really saying off track is that I would love to know if you guys as a community or anyone who has insight would know if 343 has any plans for internships, etc. after halo 4 or any general ways to get into the industry. Especially help with what schooling would help, any personal experience with what job titles I'd be looking into specifically or what to expect is required on a general basis.

It would be a dream of mine to have an internship or even visit the studios of 343 and get a hands on learning experience or even just to watch what it's like because it's overwhelming to think of where to start in the first place. Anyone else?

Thanks everyone who contributes :)

Thank you, I have looked over the jobs section. But sadly, I'm a high school senior about to graduate. I'm more curious as to advice on how to even get out into the video game industry (specific programs that would be good to know in and out for multiplayer level design, lighting programs, textures, coding, etc.) or any experience anyone has specifically from the community in regards to this or 343 :)

Thank you though!

I too would love to work in the video game industry. I am a Computer Engineering major and a sophomore at Northeastern University. None of the jobs they have available are internships though, and at my school we do 3 "co-ops" which are 6 month interships. I am currently doing my first one right now, and although I would love to work for a company like 343 for an internship, they are all the way on the west coast. I see that you are in California so this would make more sense for you but I would try and contact them somehow. This is more of a thing that I would consider after I graduate.

Destroyaaa, thank you! It's a little off putting knowing that I don't have any degrees, college experience, or experience with 3D Multiplayer Design aside from Forge and a little coding of simple RPG games. I'm just completely lost as to what I should study in college or what programs I should practice with at home!

I am a die hard fan of the incredible phenomenon that is the halo series. I have more than ample experience with forge. If i am chosen I will work as long and as hard as i can as possible. I have been absolutely in love with the halo series since I first picked up a xbox controller. I am an experienced gamer looking to get into the industry. Whatever you decide I respect your choice.
