As rumored, the PlayStation 5 is adding support for Apple Music--and it's the first console to have the music service be available natively. With an update that's available today, October 27, PS5 owners who have an Apple Music membership can stream songs, listen to playlists, and watch music videos through the Apple Music app.

Apple Music can run in the background, so players can listen as they play games. Players can launch the Apple Music app and then jump into a game, or they can press the PS button on the DualSense controller to start music from the Music Function card in the Control Center.

Apple Music comes to PS5

Apple Music will offer up recommendations to match the game they are playing or they can choose their own playlists or ones recommended by Apple.

In terms of music video playback, users can launch a video and watch it from within the app. If they choose to play a game or go somewhere else, the audio from the video will continue to play. Upon returning to the app, it will pick up in the video right where it left off.

This is just the latest partnership between Apple and Sony, as the two companies previously worked together to give members free Apple TV. Whether or not Apple Music comes to Xbox or Nintendo Switch remains to be seen.

The PS5 already has a Spotify app that allows users to stream music as they play, so this is yet another choice for people.

In other news, November's PS Plus free games lineup has leaked, while Sony's next State of Play is scheduled for today, October 27, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.
