343iBot Posted October 29, 2021 Report Share Posted October 29, 2021 Activision has acquired the Barcelona-based game developer Digital Legends--known for its work on the Respawnables game series--to work on a new Call of Duty game for mobile. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Activision president Rob Kostich said in a statement. "This is a great step forward as we continue to build additional world-class development resources focused on creating exciting and innovative content for our players." Activision Mobile boss Chris Plummer added, "Digital Legends’s tenure developing highly-polished mobile titles is unparalleled." Excited to join @Activision and @CallofDuty. We agree, great things are coming for mobile players. "We are building a world-class mobile development roster of talent and teams, and we look forward to what's to come." Digital Legends CEO Xavier Carrillo-Costa added, "We're very excited for the opportunity to work on one of the greatest franchises in the world." The unannounced new Call of Duty game that Digital Legends is developing is being made alongside other Activision studios such as Solid State, Beenox, and Activision Shanghai. Very little is known about the new Call of Duty game for mobile. Activision already has Call of Duty Mobile, which is a multiplayer and a battle royale game with more than 500 million downloads. The mobile is offering is one of the three core pillars of Activision's Call of Duty business, alongside Warzone and the yearly new premium games, like this year's Call of Duty: Vanguard. In other news, Activision just announced new details on the Warzone Pacific map coming this year. Activision Blizzard is also facing lawsuit from the state of California over alleged harassment and discrimination against women.
