Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has suggested that Nintendo will make more movies over time, and his comments come at an interesting time given the recent rumors that Seth Rogen will lead a standalone Donkey Kong movie after the Super Mario film in 2022.

During a Q&A with investors on Friday, Miyamoto was asked if Nintendo would look at some of its other IP for new films after Super Mario. As relayed by analyst David Gibson, who translated the speech from Japanese, Nintendo will indeed make more movies based on different IP/characters. However, Nintendo is taking a measured approach to this and will go "one by one," Gibson said.

Miyamoto also commented on the Super Mario film, saying it is nearly finished and that Nintendo has a good feeling about it, according to Gibson. He also remarked that Nintendo is taking steps to make sure fans don't feel betrayed by the film in regards to their expectations for the Mario universe.

The Mario movie features Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario, with Anya Taylor-Joy voicing Princess Peach. As mentioned, Rogen voices Donkey Kong, and a report from Giant Freaking Robot said Nintendo is planning a standalone DK movie featuring Rogen.

While that remains to be seen, Nintendo has made it very clear it is happy to spend big money to invest in Donkey Kong. The company recently announced that a Donkey Kong attraction is coming to the Super Nintendo World theme park in Japan in 2024.

In other news, the Switch has now sold nearly 93 million units and Nintendo believes its hardware division can experience growth for a record sixth straight year.
