Call of Duty: Vanguard is now available, and the game boasts plenty of guns and attachments for you to experiment with in multiplayer. Sometimes customizing the best weapon loadout in the Gunsmith can be a bit overwhelming, so we've created a guide to help get you started.

It's still early in Vanguard's release, but here are some recommended guns and attachments to try in your next match of multiplayer.

Note: For the recommended Optic attachment, you can choose either the Slate Reflector or the MK 3 Sunfilter to get a slight zoom without any negative impacts. Both are popular choices, but try out both to see which is best for you.

STG44

STG44

The STG44 is one of the most dominant assault rifles in Vanguard. With the plethora of weapon attachments in Vanguard, you can build the STG44 as a long-range weapon or even as a close-quarters powerhouse that's more comparable to a submachine gun. However for this recommended build we'll be focusing on attachments for mid-to-long range gunfights. These suggested attachments will give you the damage power for those long-range shots, but it also greatly reduces the recoil of this assault rifle.

Recommended STG44 attachments:

  • Muzzle: F8 Stabilizer
  • Barrel: VDD 760MM 05B
  • Optic: Slate Reflector or MK 3 Sunfilter
  • Stock: VDD 34S Weighted
  • Underbarrel: M3 Ready Grip
  • Magazine: .30 Russian Short 20 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Proficiency: Vital
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

Automaton

Automaton

The Automaton is another solid assault rifle choice for Vanguard, and it has a slightly faster fire rate than the STG44. This build will beef up the ammo count for the Automaton, while also giving you a low recoil assault rifle with a fast time-to-kill.

Recommended Automaton attachments:

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: Anastasia Sniper
  • Optic: Slate Reflector or MK 3 Sunfilter
  • Stock: Empress Broadsword
  • Underbarrel: Carver Foregrip
  • Magazine: .6.5MM Sakura 75 Round Drums
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

Itra Burst

Itra Burst

Not everyone is a fan of burst-fire rifles, but the Itra Burst is a powerful assault rifle when paired with the right attachments. For this build, you want to add the recommended magazine type to speed up the fire rate. This is going to make this burst-fire weapon feel much better to use, and adding the Lengthened ammo type will beef up the bullet velocity.

Recommended Itra Burst attachments:

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: Imerito 180MM 02BI
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: Botti SSI Skeletal
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
  • Magazine: .303 British 32 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Vital
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

MP-40

MP-40

The MP-40 submachine gun is one of the best submachine guns in the game, and it's very easy to use. These recommended attachments will help you get the best range and movement speed possible. This is a great submachine gun build for run-and-gun playstyles.

Recommended MP-40 attachments:

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: Krausnick 317MM 04B
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: Krausnick S11S Folding
  • Underbarrel: Carver Foregrip
  • Magazine: 9MM 24 Round Fast Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Proficiency: Brace
  • Kit: Quick

M1928

M1928

The M1928 is another great submachine gun choice. This submachine gun boasts a fast time-to-kill, but it also has a bit more recoil, which makes it harder to control than the MP-40. This build of the M1928 will help control the recoil and still offer great movement speed.

Recommended M1928 attachments:

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: CGC 12" Cooling
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: Chariot Marksman
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
  • Magazine: 9MM 50 Round Drums
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

DP27

DP27

The DP27 is easily the best light machine gun in Vanguard. The aim-down-sight time can be a bit slow, as you'd often expect with a light machine gun, but you can build this gun to have a high fire rate and very little recoil. And despite the slow ADS time, this is a highly-mobile LMG. It's actually wild how fast you can move around the map with this being a light machine gun. The DP27 has the feel of an assault rifle and not the common heft you'd expect from an LMG.

Recommended DP27 attachments:

  • Muzzle: Mercury Silencer
  • Barrel: Kovalevskaya 680MM B02D
  • Optic: Slate Reflector or Nydar Model 47
  • Stock: ZAC S3 TAK
  • Underbarrel: Carver Foregrip
  • Magazine: None
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

Type 99

Type 99

The Type 99 sniper rifle feels very overpowered in Vanguard, and you can build this gun for very aggressive and quick sniping playstyles. Here are the recommended attachments to get the most damage and movement out of this sniper rifle.

Recommended Type 99 attachments:

  • Muzzle: L Brake
  • Barrel: Shiraishi Short
  • Optic: None
  • Stock: Removed Stock
  • Underbarrel: None
  • Magazine: 6.55MM Sakura 20 Round Drum
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Vital
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

With so many attachments this year, leveling up weapons and getting the best attachments unlocked can be an absolute grind. But these are some solid weapons to focus on leveling and customizing.

Tip: Vanguard gives you all the weapon attachments for the private matches, so this means you can try out these builds in a private match to see what works best for you. This allows you to find the best guns to devote your time leveling up, and you avoid wasting time on guns that you don't really like.
