SteamWorld Dig 2 is free on GOG.com and Steam until 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET tomorrow, November 11. The game is free as part of a promotion of the Thunderful World digital games showcase. The game is presumably free to celebrate the announcement of the next SteamWorld game, SteamWorld Headhunter. The short teaser trailer shows two robot cowboys having a duel in a small western town.

In GameSpot's SteamWorld Dig 2 review critic Matt Espineli gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Every advancement Dig 2 makes to its story and mechanics strengthens your initiative to progress. There's an overwhelming sense of momentum that runs through the adventure; as if developer Image & Form sifted the original in a pan, removing its redundancies while expanding upon what made it so fun to persistently play. In your quest to acquire every upgrade and explore every nook and cranny, there's no shortage of hidden collectables to discover. And with post-game content that unlocks after you unearth every secret, the desire to keep digging intensifies.
