A top Halo Infinite developer has commented on the ongoing discourse around the game's progression system, acknowledging "everyone's pain" about how it works.

Jerry Hook, who is head of design at 343 Industries, said on Twitter, "Yes I am still playing Halo and feeling everyone's pain on progression."

Hook said addressing progression issues will be "top of my list" to dig into with the team when staffers return to the office this week following a holiday break.

Halo Infinite's progression system was criticized almost immediately after the game's multiplayer launched on November 15. 343 has made some changes already, but "more robust" updates are coming later.

"More robust updates are going to take time," 343's Brian Jarrard said. "We greatly appreciate all the support and please keep the feedback coming."

In short, players are upset about how progression is tied to completing challenges. This system actively encourages people to play the game to complete challenges and not necessarily to help the team or play in a more natural way, players say, which in turn leads to imbalance, they say.

Halo Infinite's first event, Fracture: Tenrai, has begun, adding a new event pass that features new cosmetics to unlock.
