Valve's PC platform Steam continues to grow. It recently surpassed 27 million peak concurrent users, setting a new record. Of the 27 million people logged in at the same time, about 7.8 million were playing games concurrently, SteamDB data shows (via PC Gamer).

The new peak concurrent user record was set over the Thanksgiving weekend and during Steam's own Autumn Sale, which runs until December 1. For more, see GameSpot's roundup of the best Steam Autumn sale deals.

Steam's most popular game continues to be Valve's own free-to-play shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which had more than 900,000 peak concurrent players this weekend. Another Valve game, Dota 2, is the second most popular game on Steam by player count.

Halo Infinite is still doing good numbers on Steam, too, reaching more than 140,000 peak concurrent players this weekend. All of these numbers come from Steam's public data page.

In other news, Red Dead Redemption II and Cyberpunk 2077 saw a surge in popularity this past weekend, no doubt thanks in part to both games being 50% off right now.

In other news, Valve is currently developing a new handheld device, the Steam Deck, and it has warned that tinkering with it could kill you.
