343iBot
It's "way too early" for Cyberpunk 2077 to come to Xbox Game Pass, according to CD Projekt Red management. Speaking as part of the company's latest earnings briefing, president Adam Kicinski said the studio takes every business opportunity under consideration for its games, and this includes Game Pass. However, Game Pass doesn't make sense for Cyberpunk 2077 at this stage of its lifecycle, the executive said. "We always consider any business opportunity, but this kind of subscription model is good at a certain moment of the lifecycle of the product, so not too early," Kicinski said, as reported by VGC. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt came to Game Pass and PlayStation Now for a period of time, and Kicinski said a similar calculation of cost-to-benefit would need to be made for Cyberpunk 2077--and for those numbers to make sense--for the studio to consider it. "We have to weigh the benefit and cost each time, so we have to compare it to sales, so it's a decision based on data. It's way too early for Cyberpunk," Kicinski said. This follows commentary from CD Projekt Red earlier in November when the company confirmed it had "no plans" to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to Game Pass. Cyberpunk 2077 released in December 2020 and suffered from a long list of bugs and other issues. Updates have improved the game since then, and new versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are coming in 2022. Despite Cyberpunk 2077's issues, CD Projekt remains intent on improving upon and expanding the game so it can sell for years to come. The game is currently 50% off on Steam as part of the Autumn Sale. View the full article
