Frankie's Response to the Leak.

Now, as we all know, SOME halo 4 info, some true or some not, has been leaked, and, frankie has made a response to it, incase you haven't seen, i will post it here.

"The magazine scans were always going to come out the day after the cover debuted, that almost always happens. We can't talk about the story in detail, because it is GI's exclusive. I will say that some of the things that "invested, emotional" players are "raising eyebrows slightly at" are being very misinterpreted ("random" weapon spawns for example) but we will be able to clarify some of those things in due time.

 

Some of the other features, abilities, are also being discussed with no context (not your guys' fault, obviously) and frankly, a video of TS would probably allay many of the especially hysterical reactions, but we're not there yet.

 

We haven't seen a single reaction we didn't expect (apart from the Dax love story) and we will clarify a lot of this stuff 100% in the coming weeks and months. SOME of the things in here won't be properly understood outside of a holistic experience (modes, progress, fictional setting, etc) but I am going to say one thing and leave it at that:

 

It feels like Halo, it does NOT feel or act like the other game(s) it's being compared to. Again, without playing it, you can't be blamed for jumping to certain conclusions."

Personally, i believe that some of it is true, and frankie agrees in a way, and in another way he doesn't, as he specifies what they will expand on and what they won't, im slightly skeptical and worried about some of the things in the leak and i hope they aren't true (Join in Public Games, etc), so, i want to know now what is true and what isn't

Let me start by sayin I am probably beyond what you call beyond pumped for this game informer article... Or I was at least untilI stumbled upon that hopefully bull**** article. And if what they had to say was true, my reply would go something like this:

 

Talk about "unfrigginbelievable"... I was one of the few idiots who had faith in 343... My heart is broken. How could they let them ruin this game THIS MUCH??!? Please God, if there is anyway we could get Bungie back, please allow it to happen!!! This is my all-time favorite game, my "other life", and if what that article states is true, these people that thought they were capable of filling Bungies shoes just poop-souped all over it. Thats what happens when you try to "re-work great work" Kiki,... You end up with crap work. You, Frank, and Josh may look at this like a paycheck or who knows what, but at the end of the day, that crap you release with no beta feedback cause you have to meet your deadline will be ruining lives, and a 10 year long legacy. Thanks for doing what everyone expected you to do. FAIL

I doubt stuff like instant Spawn and Random Weapon locations are in the game, and i hope join in isn't, but the rest of it seems ok.

 

I still have faith in 343, and i will until i decide to review halo 4.

Things like instant spawn and random weapon drops could work in certain contexts. Drop pods would be good in an invasion style playlist, Instant spawn in action sack etc etc. The "leak" gives the impression that these things are global.

 

Allot of what makes the article irritating is the nomenclature. Spartan Ops? There is just no effing way that is the actual name of the feature. 343 could not possibly be that dumb.

 

Okay, if they actually are that dumb I might not buy the game.

If there is just a game type where power weapons spawn in random spots and thats the focus of the game type fine by me but if its random in every gametype like slayer then that will ruin the game and i dont think armor abilities will work at all like they did in reach as for exray vision thats just stupid another tool for camping around corners and spartan ops is just a bad name i hope thats not what its really called.

The article merely suggested that certain "abilities" will be in. It is the context of how those abilities are acquired and used that counts.

 

Other than that, the leak sheds very little light on what the custom system will be like, which is the crux.

I'm not worried. Frankie's with the Bungie old school doctrine, and he just plain came out and told us that it's been misrepresented and misunderstood. If there were actually any truth in it, he'd have just trotted out the 'I can't comment on speculation at this time' speech.

I think if frank were looking for a big paycheck they would make the game better not worse. Why? To increase sales, not returns. You guys are idiots, really, even IF all that were true it isn't all that bad. I'm a very big fan of halo. I've played every single halo game and in progress of reading the halo books so this doesn't make me any less of a fan. Random weapons spawn is not bad considering the fact that I (a competitive l, yet willing player) get annoyed when someone just camps there for a ******* power weapon. If you guys are true veterans of the halo series, you guys would adapt, not complain. Being good with ALL the weapons makes you a true pro even whens the "noobs" have power weapons. The point is to have map control, If you have that then you have every weapon on the map. And for forerunner vision... It prevents camping, like really, I know 90% of all players on this website hates campers. Admittedly I camp sometimes when necessary to regenerate my shields when they're low and when using the sniper but when I have the opposing team on my ass I MOVE and switch weapons which most of you (who supposedly know how to play) should do to defend yourselves. And jet packers are easy kills so I don't even complain about that. They're easy to predict where theyre going and they have no cover which makes them volnurable. What I do absolutely hate is the overuse of armor lock which I think kinda ruined Reach. spartan ops is just a ******* name so deal with it, it not going to ruin the ENTIRE ******* halo series because one stupid name. Joining in game while in progress, I think, is a wonderful feature because every other ******* game I'm in there are always someone that quits and once someone quits, EVERYONE quits and it's stupid to be the ONLY one on your team who keeps getting spawn killed because of quitters. Yes I agree that players shouldn't be forced to join an in progress game but they should have that OPTION to join. I can't believe "halo fans" are complaining when they should be supportive even when things aren't going the way you want them to be. I'm sure most of you would be pissed if they DIDN'T make any changes so stop your bitching

I find this post funny because Bungie progressively became less and less worried about satisfing their fanbase after Halo 2, and moreso after Halo 3. To prove my point in a major way, just look at the bloom outcry in Reach. So much complaining and asking for it to be changed and yet they did nothing about. Not one thing. Here comes 343 into the picture and what's the first issue they addressed once they took over control of Reach updates? They gave us not only one, but two tweaks for bloom to hopefully please everyone (lowering it and giving gametypes without it). The one, and only thing I can think of right now, that Bungie completely nailed right in either Halo 3 or Reach was making such a faithful remake of Midship.

Hope you are right brother. Believe it or not (due to my prior posts) Frank was my defending arguement when the 343 takeover was being debated amongst friends... Like I said in my first post, which was somewhat over-zealous due to the shock factor after reading that which I did, I was/am a believer in 343... Unless, of course, what i read was true. But, like you said... There is a certain history there which provides a bit of comfort, and faith... Also, Certain Affinity has been on board for a while, no?

Since Mr Awesomsox isn't going to read this I don't know why I'm typing this, but here we go anyway.

 

Did I say I was bad pre patch at landing headshots? And what makes you assume I dislike bloom in the first place? I was excited for it to be in reach because I thought it would be like how it is in shadowrun, but we all found out it wasn't. I'd be willing to bet your top 3 weapon kills are shotgun, assault rifle, and a vehicle, but oh well, I'm bad anyway obviously.

 

And care to list some things bungie did to please their fanbase? Through patches and/or things that were actually shipped with halo 3/reach. They "fixed" the melee issue in halo 3 to a slightly less crappy melee system. They've slowed down gameplay, which was never asked for. Pretty much screwed up just about all the maps they remade, not talking about spiritual successors. They did less than nothing to patch reach too it seemed like.

 

Besides flaming everyone who has a different view than you and adding absolutely NOTHING to a conversation, maybe you should think of something constructive to say.
