Yoimiya's version 2.8 rerun banner is coming to Genshin Impact in a few short hours, right after Kazuha, Klee, and Heizou make their departure. Yoimiya is a five-star Pyro bow user who shines as a main DPS thanks to her potentially high single-target damage numbers that come from her strong normal attack. We'll run you through her abilities, best artifacts, weapons, and team comp to give an idea of how to build her when she arrives.

Abilities

Elemental Skill - Niwabi Fire-Dance

  • Yoimiya waves a sparkler around and infuses her normal attacks with Pyro, giving them increased damage. This effect will deactivate once she leaves the field.
    • Activating this skill will disable Yoimiya's Kindling Arrow effect for her charged attacks, which means that her primary source of damage is from normal attacks.

Elemental Burst - Ryuukin Saxifrage

  • Yoimiya jumps into the air and launches rockets at enemies to deal AoE Pyro damage, while also marking one enemy with Aurous Blaze.
    • Aurous Blaze causes marked enemies to explode whenever they get attacked by any party member other than Yoimiya herself. the explosion deals AoE Pyro damage, and only one can be triggered every two seconds.

Passive Talents

  • The Tricks of the Trouble-Maker Talent is a powerful buff in Yoimiya's kit that unlocks after her first Ascension. During Niwabi Fire-Dance, this Talent causes all of Yoimiya's normal attacks to increase her Pyro damage by 2% for every landed hit. This buff lasts for three seconds and can stack up to 10 times.
  • Summer Night's Dawn is a Talent that provides a 10% ATK increase to all party members except Yoimiya whenever she uses her Elemental Burst. The buff also increases by 1% for every stack of Tricks of the Trouble-Maker that Yoimiya has when she activates her Burst.

Best Artifact Stats

Since the bulk of Yoimiya's damage will come from using her normal attack while Niwabi Fire-Dance is active, raising her ATK, Pyro Damage, and Crit Dmg stats is the way to go here. Crit Rate is also important, but that stat already increases automatically as you level her up. So, you may not need as much Crit Rate on artifacts as you would for many other main DPS characters.

ArtifactsSuggested Main StatsSuggested Substats
FlowerHPATK%, Crit Dmg, Crit Rate, Energy Recharge
FeatherATKATK%, Crit Dmg, Crit Rate, Energy Recharge
SandsATK%Crit Dmg, Crit Rate, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery
GobletPyro DmgATK%, Crit Dmg, Crit Rate, Energy Recharge
CircletCrit Dmg or Crit RateATK%, Crit Dmg/Crit Rate, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery

Yoimiya's attack should be as high as possible when going for substats. Crit stats should be chosen depending on what you need more of and how lucky you get with the RNG. Most players will need Crit Dmg over Crit Rate, but artifact farming is known to throw curveballs often. Energy Recharge is also quite important simply because Yoimiya doesn't have a reliable way to gain energy on her own. Finally, the least important stat listed above is Elemental Mastery, as consistent Pyro application can be difficult for her because of oddly-timed attacks.

Best Artifact Sets

Crimson Witch of Flames flower artifact

Crimson Witch of Flames

  • Two-Piece Set: 15% bonus to Pyro damage.
  • Four-Piece Set: Increases Overloaded and Burning damage by 40%. Also, increases Vaporize and Melt damage by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill increases the two-piece set bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10 seconds, and can stack three times.

Yoimiya has a bit of flexibility when it comes to her artifact sets. The first recommended set is Crimson Witch of Flames, which has the perfect two-piece bonus for her. And the four-piece bonus further increases her Pyro damage every time that Niwabi Fire-Dance is used, even though the elemental reaction buffs tend to be a bit less useful for her.

Shimenawa's Reminiscence

  • Two-Piece Set: Increases ATK by 18%
  • Four-Piece Set: If the character has 15 or more energy when using an Elemental Skill, they lose 15 energy, and Normal/Charged/Plunging attack damage is increased by 50% for 10 seconds. This effect cannot trigger more than once during that time frame.

This set might be the more popular one for Yoimiya, but it's really up to you, as both strengthen her in different ways. It's even possible to use two artifacts from each set to gain both two-piece bonuses, buffing both her Pyro damage and ATK stats at the same time.

Best Weapons

Yoimiya is best-suited to wield weapons that increase either her ATK or Crit stats. She has several good options that range from rare and expensive to free or affordable. We'll list three options down below that will work for a wide range of players. In addition to the ones listed below, the Hamayumi bow also works well, but it's not as readily available or useful depending on your artifact set and story progress.

The four-star Rust bow

Thundering Pulse

  • Main Stat: Crit Dmg
  • Effect: Increases ATK by 20/25/30/35/40% and grants Thunder Emblem stacks. At stacks one through three, normal attack damage is increased by 12/24/40%. A stack will be earned whenever a normal attack lands (stack lasts five seconds), an Elemental Skill is used (stack lasts 10 seconds), or whenever energy is below 100% (stack disappears when energy is full). Each stack's duration is calculated independently.

This weapon was made for her, but it's also a five-star bow that you'll need to get lucky, or spend money, to obtain. This is a wordy effect that, essentially, raises Yoimiya's ATK, then raises it even further by granting stacks in ways that cater to her play style.

Rust

  • Main Stat: ATK
  • Effect: Increases normal attack damage by 40/50/60/70/80% but decreases aimed shot damage by 8/9/10/11/12%.

This four-star bow has a simple effect, but the buff numbers are huge, especially if you're lucky enough to be able to refine it. A normal attack damage increase with no caveats is just what Yoimiya needs.

Prototype Crescent

  • Main Stat: ATK
  • Effect: Aimed shot hits on weak points increase movement speed by 10% and ATK by 36/45/54/63/72% for 10 seconds.

This is a completely free four-star bow that can be crafted at any blacksmith using materials from the weekly bosses. The effect still provides an ATK boost, but the trick here is that you'll need to land a shot on an enemy's weak point before it activates.

Team Comps

Yoimiya works well when she's in teams that contain off-field DPS or sub DPS characters since her Elemental Burst marks enemies for teammates to trigger explosions, and one of her Talents buffs everyone except her. To that end, she does well in Overload and Vaporize comps with characters who can support her from the sidelines. More specifically, those with shields and off-field damage capabilities.

Overload team comp for a Pyro main DPS

Here are some examples of team comps for Yoimiya:

Expensive team comps:

  • Yoimiya, Zhongli, Albedo, Yanfei
  • Yoimiya, Zhongli, Kokomi, Yelan
  • Yoimiya, Hu Tao, Zhongli, Xingqiu
  • Yoimiya, Yelan, Bennett, Yun Jin

Budget team comps:

  • Yoimiya, Fischl, Beidou, Xingqiu
  • Yoimiya, Diona, Xingqiu, Yun Jin
  • Yoimiya, Fischl, Beidou, Bennett
  • Yoimiya, Yanfei, Sayu, Noelle

Yoimiya is a strong character who can dish out incredible Crit damage from normal attacks when built correctly. She's not exactly in the must-pull tier of characters at the moment, but you can't go wrong with her if you're in need of a long-range Pyro DPS who also buffs the characters around her.
