2003's The Simpsons Hit & Run has become a cult classic for Simpsons fans, with some even considering it to be the best non-Grand Theft Auto GTA game ever made. Those same fans have been clamoring for the game to return on modern consoles, so seeing the game's official soundtrack randomly uploaded to multiple streaming services has raised hopes even further.

The full 54-song soundtrack--about two hours and fifteen minutes in total--suddenly appeared on both Spotify and Apple Music over the weekend. What's more, the music was uploaded to the official Simpsons account, which makes the sudden addition all the more interesting.

The Simpsons Hit & Run was a sandbox-style action game that was released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, and PC in 2003. The game follows multiple characters from the iconic animated series across its seven chapters, including four of the five Simpsons family members--sorry Maggie.

Speculation about a potential Simpsons Hit & Run return started in August 2021, when Simpsons writer Matt Selman expressed his support for the game's return in an interview with IGN. Selman did try to temper expectations in the interview however, saying the idea would require a "complicated corporate octopus to try to make that happen."

The lack of official remaster/remake hasn't stopped the modding community from trying to revive the game itself, as modder El Gato del Tejado remade some of the game's cutscenes into the signature Simpsons animation style in July 2021.
