343iBot
Hideki Kamiya is a video game legend in his own right, directing classic titles like Resident Evil 2 and the Bayonetta series. However, at one E3, he apparently got lectured by the biggest legend of all--Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and Zelda. In a clip posted by game historian Liam Robertson, Kamiya tells the story of how he first met Miyamoto. Kamiya was apparently complaining to some senior Nintendo staff at E3 because they hadn't put the original Donkey Kong on Virtual Console arcade. Here's the full video (JP Kellams translates for Kamiya in the clip): https://t.co/WAwhDv9aME #GameHistorySecrets — Liam Robertson (@Doctor_Cupcakes) January 24, 2023When the conversation got heated, Miyamoto tapped Kamiya on the shoulder and personally explained face-to-face why the company hadn't done it yet. Kamiya describes the experience as shocking and intimidating because he had never met Miyamoto before. We can only assume that Miyamoto's explanation ended the discussion.Kamiya's latest game, Bayonetta 3, received positive reviews from critics, but some fans took exception to its ending and its treatment of Bayonetta as a character. Currently, Kamiya is heading up the Bayonetta spin-off game Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, as well as the hotly anticipated Project GG, which we know very little about. He recently said that Bayonetta 4 is already in the works, though it's unlikely to come anytime soon.View the full article
