Warner Bros. Games announced that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy have been delayed. The last-gen editions will now launch on May 5, 2023.

Originally, Hogwarts Legacy was supposed to launch for PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version is still set to launch on July 25, 2023.

This news comes by way of a tweet from the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. "We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe," the tweet reads. "The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this."

Hogwarts Legacy launched for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 10, 2023. Within two weeks, the game sold over 12 million copies, and generated over $850 million in revenue, making it a massive success for Warner Bros. Games.

Hogwarts Legacy is developed by Avalanche Software, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game has been embroiled in controversy due to transphobic remarks from Harry Potter author JK Rowling. Although she is not personally involved with its development, she stands to profit from its success. For more, read our in-depth article onhow Rowling's comments have impacted the trans community.
