PUBG: Battlegrounds is celebrating its sixth anniversary this month and to mark the occasion, Krafton is releasing update 22.2 to tease a larger celebration later.

Update 22.2 is set to release on March 14 for PC and March 23 for consoles and will include the introduction of a brand-new Care Package weapon that will headline the patch, the FAMAS. As the update arrives just in time to mark the six-year milestone, players can expect to see themed billboards and other decorative items displayed through Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok.

These themed billboards were designed by celebrated toy designer and street art muralist Tristan Eaton, specifically as a tribute to players who have been playing throughout the six years. The developer also announced that on Match 23, it will be hosting a special sixth-anniversary message event, where players can ask questions and celebrate the occasion with the PUBG team. 100 random winners will be selected from those who participate and will be rewarded with real-world sixth anniversary-themed items, like metal posters, postcards, and stickers. Additional details and entry requirements can be found here.

The post also noted that the game's battle royale mode will return on Match 31 for PC and consoles, with some changes to the mode, including simplified looting, long-distance traveling, number of enemies, and more. Krafton plans on revealing much more for the six-year anniversary of PUBG: Battlegrounds, promising update 22.2 is just the start.

PUBG: Battlegrounds is currently in Season 22, which recently introduced polar bears.
