Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5 will get a "highly requested" feature on current-gen consoles to celebrate the game's fifth anniversary.

The news comes from the official Far Cry Twitter account, and it reads:

"Over the next three weeks, celebrate the 5th Anniversary with us. Stay tuned for what's to come, including a highly requested feature for next-gen consoles."

It's still unclear what the "highly requested feature" will be. The game might receive a current-gen update and support 60fps, but what will be added is unknown. In addition to that, Ubisoft might be getting ready to officially announce Far Cry 7. It was previously reported that Ubisoft was working on two Far Cry games, one being a single-player experience and the other being multiplayer-based.

Prior to this announcement, the last time fans received Far Cry 5 content was in the form of a DLC for Far Cry 6. In the DLC, you play as Joseph, the main antagonist of Far Cry 5, and throughout the DLC, you better understand how he became a cult leader.

Far Cry 5 came out in 2018 and followed the story of a deputy sent to arrest Joseph Seed, a cult leader in Montana. But in Far Cry fashion, things go horribly wrong, and you're forced to fight for your life. In our Far Cry 5 review, we gave it a 9, with Edmond Tran stating, "Far Cry 5 boasts a wonderfully harmonious flow to its adventure, with its smart changes to exploration, discovery, and progression distinctly bolstering the enjoyment of creatively engaging and experimenting with its spectacular open world."
