The Resident Evil 4 remake has already broken records, at least on Steam. On launch day, March 24, 2023, Resident Evil 4 has surpassed 118,000 concurrent players on Steam--the most in the series' history on the platform.

For reference, Resident Evil Village previously had the most concurrent users on the platform, when it peaked at 106,631. This is good news for the Resident Evil 4 remake, as it's been out for less than a day, meaning its all-time peak could climb even higher. While Steam stats are typically updated in real-time (or close to it), we'll have to wait a little longer for console stats and specific sales figures.

The original Resident Evil 4 sold around 12.3 million units across various platforms, including the original GameCube version, PS2, and even a digital download version for PS3 and Xbox 360. Resident Evil 5 is still the best-selling game in the series, sitting at around 13.5 million units sold across all platforms.

The Resident Evil 4 remake has also already amassed 212,873 Twitch viewers at the time of writing. Village peaked at 658,703 Twitch viewers shortly after its launch in 2021.

As its name suggests, the 2023 version of Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 original. It features enhanced visuals, better performance, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.
