A new season of Call of Duty arrives on April 12, and Activision has revealed the roadmap for Season 3. Warzone 2's new content will include a brand-new battle pass, more operators, Ranked mode, and more. Here we highlight all the major announcements for Season 3 of Warzone 2.

New weapons and operator

Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 will add four weapons to the game. The battle pass includes the iconic Intervention sniper rifle, which is rebranded as the FJX Imperium sniper, and the Cronen Squall battle rifle.

Later in the season, players can expect two new sidearms. Activision's blog doesn't name them, but they are both described as being fully-automatic weapons.

Both Alejandro Vargas and Valeria Garza from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign will be available to unlock in the premium tiers of the battle pass. More operators are teased to arrive later in the season, which will likely be available as shop bundles.

Season 3 also introduces a beefier version of the battle pass bundle. The standard pass will still be available at $1,100 CoD Points ($10), but Blackcell is a pricey $30 bundle with over 7,000 CoD Points' worth of value. You can find full details about the Blackcell bundle here.

New event challenges

Trophy Hunt

Season 3 adds Call of Duty's new Trophy Hunt event, kicking off two days after the launch of the season. During this event, every player will drop a "trophy," which is described as a small, decorative coin whenever they are eliminated in any mode. Players can grab these trophies or earn them by performing specific tasks, such as opening supply boxes.

These trophies can then be exchanged for items shown in the events tab, including weapon blueprints, vehicle skins, and battle pass token tier skips.

Camo challenge event

The mid-season update will add a camo challenge event similar to Season 2's Path of the Ronin camo challenge event, but Activision says more details will be provided at a later time.

Battle royale

New modes

Warzone 2 is adding a respawn "Massive Resurgence" mode to Al Mazrah, allowing up to 150 players to battle it out in various squad sizes. This mode will be available at launch.

Arriving later in the season, Warzone 1's Plunder mode will finally be available in Warzone 2, but Activision doesn't confirm if this will be played on both maps or just one. Plunder is a respawn mode where the team with the most cash wins.

Warzone Ranked is the new competitive mode announced for battle royale. This will arrive later in the season, and be played in trios with a leaderboard and more.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3 roadmap

New gulag and features

Al Marzrah's existing prison gulag will be replaced with a new 1v1 area. Not to be confused with the Black Site areas in Warzone 2, the new Gulag map is also called Blacksite. This new arena is described as being a roughly rectangular, asymmetrical map with several interior spaces and long external routes. This is likely tied into a new map location on Al Mazrah, as the Blacksite Gulag's current location is teased as being "Redacted."

Season 2 added Redeploy Drones to Ashika Island, and now Season 3 is adding these drones to Al Mazrah, which will give players a new way to traverse Warzone 2's larger map. The launch of the season is also adding DMZ's UAV towers. This lets players interact with the towers, and get several UAV sweeps from the tower's location.

Season 3 will introduce a feature previously seen in Warzone 1's Caldera, Tempered Plate Carriers, which will be added to change players' armor plates. With a Tempered Plate Carrier equipped, a player's armor will be two half-bars instead of three thirds, making it easier and more efficient to re-plate after a fight.

Additional features will be added with the mid-season update, such as Caldera's decontamination stations, deployable Buy Stations, and more.

DMZ

DMZ is getting a massive overhaul for Season 3. Thankfully, the blog doesn't mention a full wipe like with Season 2's launch, and instead there are just a ton of new features being added to the mode.

One major change is the upcoming barter system. This isn't player-to-player trading, but a way of swapping goods at a Buy Station, instead of just being forced to sell scavenged items for cash.

Another major addition to DMZ is the addition of Workbenches, which are locations found on the map near Buy Stations. This new feature allows players to modify their Contraband weapons. Players can spend cash to add or remove attachments piece by piece.

Active Duty Operators bring another huge change. Every player will start with three Active Duty Operator Slots, which is basically three separate operators with their own unique loadout. These items include a player's backpack, plate carrier, killstreaks, self-revive, and gas mask.

For every infiltration into DMZ, a player can choose which Active Duty Operator to use, meaning a player can gear up one operator specifically for a mission in Building 21 runs, and have another who is built for scavenging items without any high-tier items to lose.

There's also a new DMZ boss, who is being teased at being somewhere underground in Al Mazrah, but more information will be provided later in the season.
