Fntastic has announced that its controversial upcoming survival game The Day Before is getting a beta, and promises it will return to Steam.

As reported by PCGamesN, The Day Before developer Fntastic has shared the news of a beta in the game's Discord. Despite currently being delisted from Steam, the beta will apparently take place in 2023, and Fntastic says the game "should be on Steam." In a message to members of the Discord, administrator "Kentain" wrote, "We understand that many of you have been eagerly waiting for the release of this game, and we want to thank you for your patience and support throughout the development process. We have been working hard to ensure that the game meets our high standards, and we are confident that it will be worth the wait.

"As we get closer to the release date, we will be conducting a beta test for the game. This will give players the opportunity to try out the game before it is released and provide valuable feedback that we can use to improve the final product." The message also reiterated that the game will be launching November 10, "without further delay." A date for the beta wasn't provided.

The Day Before was originally supposed to release in June 2022, before being delayed to 2023, and was again delayed from March 2023 to November. This delay seems to be partially due to a trademark issue with a calendar app, which led to the game being delisted from Steam, though Fntastic claims that a delay was planned regardless of that. Gameplay was shared in February, which didn't receive a particularly warm welcome from fans, a difficult position to be in considering the game was at one point the most-wishlisted game on Steam.

Presuming there are no further delays, The Day Before will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 10.
