In certain parts of the world, zombie-slaying across apocalyptic Los Angeles in Dead Island 2 is already at your fingertips. But most of the world still has hours to go until the action-RPG releases.

Publisher Deep Silver has thus provided a graphic showcasing exactly when you can start playing Dead Island 2. Basically, it boils down to whenever the clock strikes midnight in your time zone. So when the calendar officially switches to April 21 in Cape Town, or London, or New York is when the zombie game becomes available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Dead Island 2 releases at midnight in each time zone

This rollout may be a bit different from other game launches for US players. Sometimes, titles will go live at midnight ET for the entire country, meaning the West Coast will get access at 9 PM PT. But that's not the case with Dead Island 2.

Now, when the action-RPG does go live in your region, keep in mind that Dead Island 2 players can't host co-op on base Xbox One and PS4 systems. Hosting online is possible on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, however, and developer Dambuster Studios is "working on giving the option to host on all consoles in the future."

After an extremely long development--full of delays and studio changes--Dead Island 2 reviews have been generally favorable. That said, not everyone is sold on the game, with the story being cited as lacking.
