Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has Essence Crystals that upgrade different facets of your character. These blue objects in the game world can provide an increase to your max HP, max Force, or current XP (usually giving you another skill point). Here's our guide to help you with Essence locations in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Where to find Essence locations in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

For this Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence locations guide, we look at each planet and zone that's visited in the campaign. We focus first on those that are discovered as you're following the main story. We'll then mention some areas that are off the beaten path later. This is due to the nature of the game, which relies heavily on backtracking after obtaining certain traversal abilities.

Likewise, please be reminded that this guide will only include Essence Crystals that provide HP, Force, and XP. We won't discuss those that reward new perks or perk slots. Still, you can take a look at our best perks guide.

Coruscant Essence Crystals: Campaign start

Essence #1: Health - In all likelihood, this will be the first Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence crystal that you obtain. You'll find it in Undercity Meats just before you learn the Confuse Force Power.

This will probably be the first Essence Crystal that you spot in the campaign.

Koboh Essence Crystals: First visit

Essence #1: XP - Upon landing on Koboh, proceed further inland until you reach the Derelict Dam fast travel point. Look back the way you came (where the Droids and Stormtroopers are). Down below the makeshift platform is a ledge, as well as a cosmetic chest. You should be able to land on solid ground and, beyond that, you'll see an open chamber. Grab hold of the rope, then wall run to reach the crystal.

Essence #2: Health - From the Derelict Dam fast travel point, check the cliffside path (the one further away from the dinosaur), and you'll end up encountering a Gorocco. Defeat this boar-gorilla hybrid and open the door. The Essence is just beyond.

Essence #3: Force - Shortly thereafter, you'll enter a facility with several Rolling Mines. At the very end (where you find the Tactical Jacket), there's a device that continuously spawns these mines. You can then blow up the wall to create an exit back to the Derelict Dam. This time, you'll want to let the Rolling Mine follow you to the right-hand side of the cliffs, near a Prospector, workbench and elevator. Once you reach the edge, use Force Pull and Force Push on the mine to blow up the cliffside wall.

Follow the path, fighting another Gorocco, until you reach the top of the hill. You can grab the Essence here before riding the elevator back down. Remember this location since you'll come back here much later in the campaign.

Essence #4: XP - Eventually, you'll see the massive lands of Koboh in the distance in a rather cinematic moment. You'll also meet an NPC named Mosey. Just below the hill and to your right, you'll see vines and ledges that you can clamber onto. The goal is to traverse this section to reach a distant cliffside area overlooking an outpost with a Meditation Point (Riverbed Watch).

Essence #5: Force - From Southern Reach, you'll see Rambler's Reach Outpost. A short distance away from the town, there's another area called Hunter's Quarry. To get this Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence Crystal, you should use the ledge and vines to reach the interior of the main building. Inside is a Rolling Mine spawner. Have it follow you outside, then grab and throw it at the sludge-covered wall.

Essence #6: XP - You'll reach Pyloon's Saloon and meet up with Greez. You're then told to check the underground Smuggler's Tunnel. In the small chamber with Hardshell enemies, you'll see this crystal.

Essence #7: Force - If you haven't yet, return to the Smuggler's Tunnel after clearing your first Jedi Temple and meeting Zee. Although the ground collapsed earlier, you should be able to dive down the pool. There's a glowing spot here so just submerge, then swim up when you see the other opening. You can interact with the crystal, but you won't be able to open the door that leads to Phon'qi Caverns just yet.

Essence #8: Health - Proceed further until you reach the top of the Forest Array. After a boss battle, you'll be able to pick this up.

Shattered Moon Essence Crystals

Essence #1: Force - As you're heading deeper into the facility, you'll grapple to reach the large centrifuge, eventually seeing a green barrier that you can't pass through just yet. On the opposite side, there's a shaft with several Shiverpede enemies. Use the grapple and metal grates to reach the crystal.

The meat grinder section might make you panic, but you can just grapple back to the top.

Koboh Essence Crystals: Stone Spires and Lucrehulk

Essence #1: Health - Remember the Riverbed Watch outpost from earlier? At this point, you should have all the necessary tools to reach the top. Take out a dozen or so enemies here, picking up the Bun haircut, too. The crystal is on the topmost section.

Essence #2: Force - For this particular Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence Crystal, you need to acquire the Koboh Grinder ability for BD-1. You'll be able to do just that in the Koboh Spires area as part of the campaign. You can then burn away the gunk to reveal this object.

Essence #3: XP - Much later, assuming you've also gone through the Shattered Moon and Jedha Pilgrim's Sanctuary, you'll be asked to board the derelict Lucrehulk in Koboh's swamps. As you advance further, you'll obtain the Lift and Slam Force Power. Once you have this, you can backtrack to the core area, looping around to lift the large door that leads to a ledge with this crystal.

Essence #4: XP - With the Lift and Slam ability, you'll be able to reach the chamber with The Massiff. You can learn more in our Legendary Enemies guide.

Essence #5: HP - You can pick this up after the boss fight.

Shattered Moon Essence Crystals: The Giant Laser Beam of Death

Essence #1: XP - Your next visit to the Shattered Moon for storyline purposes has you passing through the giant laser beam's firing chamber. You can use Merrin's Charm to phase through green barriers when it's about to fire. The Essence Crystal is at the end of this section (the third and final barrier).

Although the exit is past the second green barrier, you'll want to go to the end of the firing chamber for this crystal.

Koboh Essence Crystals: Fogged Expanse and Mountain Observatory

Essence #1: As you advance further, you'll reach an area called the Fogged Expanse. Follow the path just after the Mogu and you'll see a cliffside area with several Rolling Mines.

Essence #2: A bit later but before you arrive at the Imperial base, you'll have to go around the Caverns of Mari, which happens to have a Force Tear. Use the Electro Dart to lift the wall, then do a wall run to reach this.

Left: Koboh Essence Crystal #1 (Fogged Expanse); Right: Koboh Essence Crystal #2 (Caverns of Mari).

Essence #3: This Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence Crystal is in the Mountain Observatory - Diagnostics Corridor. You'll rotate the central section and fight waves of enemies. This will then reveal the opposite side and the "floating balloon" device.

Use the floating balloon on the opposite side (the one furthest away from the Meditation Point). This lets you grapple and pass through a green barrier, thereby unlocking the shortcut door. Grab the floating balloon again but, this time, toss it inside the room with the crystal. You'll be able to grapple and leap on top of the ledge.

Left: Use the floating balloon to reach the opposite side; Right: Bring the floating balloon to the small room by pulling it through the shortcut.

Koboh Essence Crystals: Late-game

This section discusses the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence Crystals as part of the late-game experience once you've acquired most traversal abilities. We're going to start at the Gorge Crash Site, the first fast travel point on the planet, and work our way from there.

Essence #1: Health - Use your Lift power on the large door near the Gorge Crash Site fast travel point, then ride the elevator. Instead of heading all the way down to where you'll fight the Mire Terror Legendary Beast, keep advancing forward so you can hop on a ledge as the elevator is moving.

You'll arrive at a different cliffside area in Viscid Bog. You'll notice several grapple balloons and a Relter. The Relter's flight path will take you further across this section to where the other balloons are. The goal is to use your grapple upgrade to loop around each balloon, before ziplining to where the crystal is. To leave this spot, you have to use the first Relter to glide all the way to Zygg and Winni's hut, as the elevator can't be called from here.

Essence #2: Force - Go to the Derelict Dam fast travel point and backtrack to where you encountered the Pit Droid with the crashed ship. You can use your Lift power on the ship, netting you another crystal. The Pit Droid will also head to the Saloon.

Essence #3: XP - Remember the area in the Derelict Dam with an elevator, the one with walls that you had to blow up with a Rolling Mine? Return to the top to battle the Gorocco Matriarch Legendary Beast. After taking it out, use the grapple balloons to reach the top of the opposite cliff face. You'll find another Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence Crystal there.

Essence #4: Health - In the Southern Reach area, you'll notice a small building near two NPCs. Enter it and lift the grate. Down below is the Flooded Bunker. You'll find a couple of cosmetics here, as well as a miniboss and a crystal.

From left to right: Koboh Essence Crystal #1; Koboh Essence Crystal #2; Koboh Essence Crystal #3; Koboh Essence Crystal #4.

Essence #5: XP - The next two crystals are in close proximity in Rambler's Reach Outpost. First, take a look at the metal shack behind Doma's Shop. You need to use several abilities, such as BD-1's Slice, Lift, and Merrin's Charm. Inside, you'll meet an NPC named Soont Madas. Use your Jedi Mind Trick to make him reveal a staircase. There's an echo and a crystal below, but Soont Madas will attack you. You'll have no choice but to eliminate him.

Essence #6: XP - This one is just behind Soont Madas' house. There's a metal door atop a sloping path. Lift the door and drop down the shaft. The chamber will be swarming with Koboh Dust (but we all know they're just evil bees). Go to the opposite side to get the orb, then place it on the pedestal. This will create a laser that reveals the exit.

Next, grab the orb and throw it to the other section, which will partially cause the "insects" to move away. Double jump and dash to get close to it. Then, double jump and dash once more to reach the crystal.

These are the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Essence locations that we've discovered so far in the campaign. There are bound to be more, so we'll update this guide accordingly.
