After delays and years of development, the System Shock remake is finally set for launch later this month. Plaion and developer Nightdive Studios revealed that the game has gone gold and is ready to release May 30 on PC.

This remake of System Shock will feature updated visuals and controls, along with new music. Nightdive Studios is also promising a new dismemberment system when combating enemies. There will be other improvements for the action-adventure game, which comes 29 years after the original.

System Shock was delayed to May earlier this year because the remake needed a couple of extra months of development. System Shock was initially unveiled in March 2016 with gameplay footage, followed by a Kickstarter campaign that brought in $1.35 million. In 2020, Nightdive Studios showcased the previously mentioned dismemberment feature, which wasn't in the original game.

Nightdive Studios was also behind System Shock: Enhanced Edition and acquired the System Shock franchise rights in 2015.

The System Shock remake is also planned for consoles. Plaion says there will be info at a later date regarding the game's release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
