The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is something that you're likely to obtain if you've completed the important main quests. However, there are a few caveats, as we've learned from our writers. Here's our guide to help you get the true ending in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to get the true ending in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom true ending is, essentially, a post-credits scene. Basically, after defeating the final boss, you'll see the following:

  • The final boss will explode.
  • The spirits of Rauru and Sonia appear, and they'll return Zelda back to her human form.
  • As Link, you'll have to skydive and catch her.
  • The two will talk in the field as you see a Hyrule Castle that's free of corruption.
Personally, I was so tempted to see what would happen if I didn't press the A button. Maybe there's a secret scene where the two just land splat on the ground, but I didn't want to redo the whole final boss encounter.

The credits will play after that. Then, another scene will play. This shows Link and company standing in the Temple of Time in the Sky World. There, Mineru will say that her task is done. The group promises to support Zelda, and Mineru will finally be at peace. The Mineru Construct will also crumble.

According to one of our writers, they did not get this scene during their first clear. Instead, they went into Hyrule Depths and spent almost 20 minutes just trying to defeat the Seized Construct. When they beat Demon King Ganondorf and watched the ending scene and credits, the game went straight back to the main menu.

They were only able to view the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom true ending or post-credits scene after completing the Fifth Sage main quest, which also happens to be how you recruit the Mineru Construct.

Farewell, Mineru.

Wait, does that mean Mineru will be gone forever if you load your save?

No. When you check your save, you'll notice a star icon, implying that you've already cleared the campaign. Loading this file will place you back at the last area where you had a manual save.

For us, we plopped down a Travel Medallion just before the Demon King's Army battle in Hyrule Depths (it's not possible to save once you enter the final chamber where Ganondorf resides). It's as though you haven't beaten Demon King Ganondorf yet, which means Mineru will still be with you when you explore other parts of the game world.
