The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Lightning Helm is a unique armor piece that's gonna take a while to obtain. It requires tricking the Yiga Clan, then besting them in battle. Here's our guide to help you get the Lightning Helm in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to get the Lightning Helm in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Lightning Helm can be yours by completing the Infiltrating the Yiga Clan quest. There's a key requirement: the full Yiga Armor Set (our guide here discusses where to find all three items).

Once you have the full set, make your way to the Yiga Clan Hideout. From the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, go east and drop down the small chamber in the mountains. The coordinates are: -3701, -1371, 0331.

There's an NPC here that wants to join the ninjas, but isn't able to do so. However, if you're wearing the full set, they'll let you inside. Proceed further into the arena by going through the opening at the right-hand side and following the narrow corridors. You can use Ascend to reach the top of the tower.

There, the Blademaster offers a challenge to test your mettle. The goal is to defeat a certain number of enemies within one minute. Each test costs 100 rupees, but you do receive rewards:

  • First test - Defeat three enemies; rewards the Yiga Fabric (Paraglider skin).
  • Second test - Defeat five enemies; rewards the Earthwake Manual (special ability that you can use if you don't have melee weapons equipped).
  • Third and final test - Defeat nine enemies; rewards the Lightning Helm.

For these battles, we recommend using a longsword-type weapon with a strong Fuse Material (i.e. Flux Construct Cores or Silver Lynel Blades. The reason for this is because of the longsword's wider arcs when swung. Since the Yiga Ninjas here often teleport to you, you'd be able to hit a couple when they're close enough.

As for the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Lightning Helm, it only has a +3 armor rating. However, its perk is amazing, as it completely nullifies the damage you take from lightning strikes. For instance, if there's a thunderstorm and you're wearing items made of metal, you need not bother getting hit by lightning. Sadly, it doesn't work against a Thunder Gleeok's zapping breath.
