343iBot
The 1.20 update for Minecraft is here, and with the Trails and Tales update comes a wide variety of new content, such as Sniffers. A new passive mob that doesn't spawn naturally and can only be found by doing a specific task. But once you spawn them, Sniffers can find all sorts of buried items for you that'll make life a little bit easier for you in your Minecraft world. This guide will detail everything you'll need to know about Sniffers. What do Minecraft Sniffers doSniffers tend to wander around aimlessly, smelling the ground. They use their noses to sniff around until they find Torchflower Seeds or a Pitcher Pod. But for them to find something, they'll need at least a 6x6 space to sniff it out, and after they find an item, there's an eight-minute cooldown before they can perform the task again. Listed below are all the blocks they can dig from:Coarse DirtDirtGrass BlockMoss BlockMudMuddy Mangrove RootsPodzolRooted DirtIf you or a tamed wolf kills an adult Sniffer, you'll earn anywhere from one to three XP, and if you murder a baby, you'll earn nothing but guilt.Where do Minecraft Sniffers spawnSniffers are a rare kind of mob because they're one of the few that don't spawn naturally. For one to spawn, you'll first need to find a Sniffer egg when they're brushed out from suspicious sand in warm ocean ruins or when two adult Sniffers breed. Warm Ocean Ruins can usually be found in Desert and Badland Biomes.Sniffers can only spawn once an egg is placed down. After you've obtained an egg, all you need to do is place it down somewhere, and it'll begin to hatch over time. But if you place a Sniffers Egg on a Moss Block, it'll hatch within ten minutes. What do Sniffers eatThe only thing Sniffers eat are Torchflower Seeds. The only way to get these is by finding and hatching a Sniffer Egg first. But once you feed a torchflower seed to them, it'll heal them for two hearts, send them into Love Mode, and make them breed. Once Love Mode wears off, a Sniffer Egg will drop around them.Sniffers only eat Torchflower SeedsOnce they're sent into Love Mode, there'll be a five-minute cooldown before they can breed again. You'll earn anywhere from one to seven XP when you've bred a Sniffer. How to tame SniffersLike horses, Sniffers can not be tamed even after successfully breeding one. Once you've hatched an egg, it's highly recommended you build a fence around them so they won't wander far from your base.Make sure to keep an eye out for them. For more Minecraft content, be sure to check out our story on how Matt Berry is in talks to join the upcoming Minecraft movie, and the latest DLC makes your Minecraft world look like it's straight out of Sonic.View the full article
