Final Fantasy 16 will get a day-one patch that fixes several minor issues, including crashes, text errors, progress blockers, and more. It will also feature performance enhancements. This comes by way of a livestream featuring the game's producer Naoki Yoshida (via Eurogamer).

Previously, Square Enix had stated that a day-one patch for Final Fantasy 16 wasn't planned, so it appears the developer changed its mind. However, the patch is not required, meaning players can still jump in without downloading it. "This is a rapid patch, so it's not necessary to actually play the game," Yoshida said during the livestream.

The full list of patch notes is listed below:

  • Fix a control flag issue that can make progress impossible under very specific circumstances.
  • Fix an issue wherein the game could close unexpectedly under very specific circumstances.
  • Optimise performance in several places
  • Fix some minor text errors

The update is referred to as "minor," though it's recommended to download it to ensure the best possible experience. Square Enix previously stated that it believes games should work as expected when they launch, and that the team "didn't want to do any pre-release or release day updates" for Final Fantasy 16.

Final Fantasy 16 will launch exclusively for PS5 on June 22. The game will be coming to PC at a later date.
