Download cards for Pikmin 4 have been spotted in Japan, and based on what's visible on them, Nintendo appears to have used for its latest game. This is a rare move for Nintendo because it hardly ever uses this game engine.

A Twitter user shared a picture with the download cards (via VGC). Although most of it is in Japanese, some details can still be made out, such as the game having a two-player mode and that it runs on Unreal Engine. Nintendo has not confirmed the use of Unreal Engine, but GameSpot has contacted the company for comment.

Yoshi's Crafted World was the only other first-party Nintendo game to use Unreal Engine in recent history. Nintendo usually uses its own internal engines for its games, although more companies have been turning to standardized tools such as Unreal Engine.

Earlier today, on June 20, Nintendo announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation for tomorrow, June 21. The upcoming Direct will is expected to be 40 minutes long and will include "new details on Pikmin 4" and other Switch games releasing in 2023.
