As part of the ongoing Microsoft/Activision Blizzard merger case, a US district judge seemingly revealed when this year's new Call of Duty game is releasing--and it should surprise no one.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley is reported to have said during the court case that the new Call of Duty game coming this year will launch in November. That is no big surprise, as Call of Duty games typically release in the October/November period, but what's notable here is that Activision itself hasn't announced a release month so far. It's only said the game is coming this fall. The game, meanwhile, has not been officially announced--it's rumored to be Modern Warfare 3 from developer Sledgehammer Games.

Judge Corley also stated during proceedings that COD 2023 will launch on PlayStation platforms, which is also no surprise. Even if Microsoft succeeds in acquiring Activision Blizzard, the Call of Duty series will stay on PlayStation and even potentially expand to Nintendo Switch.

The official Call of Duty account seemingly reacted to the judge's comments, sharing the looking eyes emoji.

COD 2023 will reportedly feature a campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, and a new map for Warzone 2. There has been much discussion and uncertainty surrounding this year's new Call of Duty game. It was initially reported that there would be no new game at all in 2023, but later, Activision confirmed there would be the usual "annual premium release" in 2023.

All Call of Duty games are now developed on the same engine, no matter which studio is leading development, so fans can expect COD 2023--what the game is--to presumably "feel" similar to Modern Warfare II.

Things could change, but for now, a report said COD 2023 will launch on November 10, with campaign early access starting November 2. Beta weekends will take place October 6-10 (for PlayStation) and October 12-16 (for everyone), a report said.

Looking further out, Activision's Treyarch studio will reportedly take the reins and lead development on a new Call of Duty game for 2024. Supposed concept art leaked in 2022.

Activision typically does not comment on rumors about upcoming Call of Duty games. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
