Ubisoft has announced that a closed beta for Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile entry in the franchise, will begin on August 3. The beta will be available on Android and iOS devices, and registration is now available through the game's official website.

While Ubisoft hasn't revealed what content fans can expect to try out in the beta, the publisher did mention a few more details about the game and its place in the overall Assassin's Creed timeline. Set in the third century BC and during the time of one of the first unified dynasties in China, players will take on the role of Xia during an unprecedented era of trade and cultural exchange between East and West.

New dangers lurk beyond the Great Wall and outside of the empire's borders to the imperial capital of Xianyang, and players will need to face the Xiongnu--nomadic people of that era who inhabited the eastern Eurasian Steppe--and face other challenges along the way.

Assassin's Creed Jade was formally revealed during the June 2023 Ubisoft Forward Showcase, and it will be a free-to-play game on mobile devices when it launches later this year. Developed in partnership with Level Infinite, the game features the traditional Assassin's Creed gameplay, including stealth-based movement, hand-to-hand combat, and long-range attacks.

A few other Assassin's Creed games are also on the horizon, as this year will see the launch of Assassin's Creed Mirage. Additionally the VR game Assassin's Creed Nexus is on the way, as is Assassin's Creed Infinity--a single entry point for future games.
