Archangel Tyrael
Fans of classic Sega -- and I mean classic -- have a lot to look forward to on May 30, 2012, with the release of a pair of retro game collections that gather together entries in the Golden Axe and Streets of Rage series'. The Xbox 360-exclusive packs will sell for 800 MS Points apiece. The Golden Axe Collection servces up the original 1989 arcade game along with the console versions of the second (Genesis/Mega Drive) and third (Mega Drive only) games. The Streets of Rage Collection is basically the same thing, offering players the first three games in the series. That's not all though. On May 23, a week before the two trilogy collections release, Sega will kick off its Sega Ages Online series of releases with a an assortment of six retro game releases. These titles will be coming to both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, unlike the following week's Microsoft exclusives. PS3 users will be able to buy the six games a la carte, at a price of ¥600 (around $8 apiece.) The Xbox 360 releases will instead be bundled into two three-packs, valued at 800 MS Points apiece. The six games are: Alex Kidd in Miracle World, The Super Shinobi, Super Hang-On, Wonder Boy Monster Land,Wonder Boy 5: Monster World 3, and Monster World 4. It's not all together clear if Andriasang's report refers to these as Japan-only releases or something that will be more widely available. We've reached out to Sega for confirmation and will update this post accordingly when we hear back. http://www.g4tv.com/...retro-releases/
