After a weekend filled with Mortal Kombat announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have one more surprise up their sleeve: The Mortal Kombat 1 preorder beta test will run August 18-21.

The official Mortal Kombat Twitter confirmed the details for the beta, which will be available on both Xbox Series X|S and PS5 to those who preorder the game. This follows the closed network stress test, which was held in late June.

The beta test will feature six playable characters and four Kameo fighters, an increase from the four playable characters and three Kameos featured in June's network stress test. Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei make up the playable roster, while Frost joins Sonya, Kano, and Jax as selectable Kameos.

The Mortal Kombat 1 San Diego Comic-Con panel confirmed Li Mei, Tanya, and Baraka as playable characters, along with new Kameo fighters in Darrius and Classic Sub-Zero, in a new cinematic trailer.

Later on in the panel, series creator Ed Boon showed a brief teaser confirming the six fighters who will make up the game's first Kombat Pack DLC, which include series veterans Ermac, Takeda, and Quan Chi, alongside guest characters Peacemaker, Omni-Man from Invincible, and Homelander from The Boys.

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch September 19 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Those who preorder the Premium and Kollector's Editions of the game will get five days early access on September 14.
