Archangel Tyrael
Game director discusses tackling the issues of MMO development MMO gaming comes with its fair share of technical hurdles, but the developers of the recently-announced Elder Scrolls Online MMO have a vision for a modern MMO that tackles them. The Elder Scrolls Online game director Matt Firor has said said the game will feature '100 percent solo' sections that cover the main story, keeping the emphasis on making the player the main hero of their journey, as is always the case in Elder Scrolls games so far. "In the Elder Scrolls games you're always the hero, whether you want to or not," says Firor in a video interview with Game Informer. "The last thing you want to do is have the final confrontation with Mehrunes Dagon as he's stomping across the imperial city and you see like 15 guys behind you waiting to kill him because they're on the same quest. "So as MMO online designers, the thing we needed to make sure we hit the most was that feeling that you're awesome, you're the hero, and we do that through a mix of technology where, when I am confronting a major foe in the game I'm doing it in an instance where I'm alone," he went on. "We have a whole part of the game that's 100 percent solo which is the main story where the world focuses on you, you're the hero. Everything you do is solo and the world reacts to you that way." Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls Online earlier this month with a trailer. It's due out on PC and Mac in 2013. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/348353/elder-scrolls-mmo-has-100-percent-solo-main-story/
