Play as "Other Species" instead of Elites?

Frank O' Connor stated that we will not play as Elites in matchmaking. But he never stated that we wouldn't play as them in Custom Games or Forge mode. But did anyone ever stop to think that maybe they reserved that spot for whatever the other main species of the game (EX. Forerunners)? Maybe they thought that playing as something else would be a fun change to the game. The only problem is they haven't announced who the other species are so if they tell us who the other species is that we'd play as is, they would spoil the Species in the campaign. And I say "species" because whoever this species is, could be either the protagonist OR the antagonist.

So if we are able to play as another species, it will be interesting to see how they play.

(All of this speculation is for custom games and forge, not matchmaking)

We will be able to play as Sangheili is Custom Games and Forge, you are correct. He has not stated that they will not be. Therefore, that means that we have a good chance that they're in the game still in the game modes that we love.

Id rather not see them in multiplayer because of the hitbox differences. In halo 3 it made an advantage in some gamemodes to be a different race on account of it using the same hitbox with a different model. Therein left holes on the model with no damage. Even with a new hitbox you would still have to aim differently on a different hitbox model.

I think it would be rather interesting if the player could be a different race than Humans and Sanghelli. Like maybe Jiralhanae or Mgalekgolo. Or we could have all the Covenant races to choose from. However, Im not to sure how the San'Shyuum would fair in battle.

I think playing as a Mgalekgolo and Jiralhanae would be completely unfair in terms of gameplay since both are the strongest ones in the Halo Universe, and Grunts are the weakest and slowest ones, making the gameplay unfair for those who play as them. Jackals have these Shields that deflect bullets, which would be harder to kill them with regular weapons. Drones fly, so that already makes sense why they are unplayable. And finally, San'Shyuum appears to be as slow as Unggoy and as weak as Unggoy too, so that already makes sense why they probably won't be playable as. Even if they would make everything look like the same, such as speed and power, Mgalekgolo are not able to pick weapons up and have shield-like arms and Jackals aren't able to pick two handed weapons (if they are bearing shields). The hitboxes would be VERY different, since their heights vary alot and Covenant Forces don't have shields like spartans, only Elites do. That's why Elites were (and I hope still will be) playable, because of their hitboxes being the most similar to Spartans', they have almost the same health and height and their speed aren't so different, they can use ANY weapon (Human, Covenant and Promethean). Well, just saying... Or writing. :awesome:
