One of the earliest main story missions you receive in Baldur's Gate 3 is going to a goblin camp to save a man named Halsin. Halsin is the First Druid of Emerald Grove and of crucial importance to stop the ongoing conflict arising between the Druids and Tieflings at the grove. You are tasked with bringing Halsin back after he was seemingly captured by some goblins while out on an expedition. In this guide, we will show you exactly where to find the goblin camp and, more importantly, how to find Halsin once you're there.

Finding Halsin at the goblin camp

If you're still at Emerald Grove, then you will need to make your way west. It's quite a long journey to get to the goblin camp, as it's located on the complete opposite side of the map from the grove.

If you head due west from the Emerald Grove Environs waypoint, you will eventually reach a location called Blighted Village, which is a town overrun by goblins. This town is marked by red-roofed buildings and is northwest of the Roadside Cliffs waypoint, as seen in the screenshot below. You can also see where the goblin camp is located past Blighted Village in the screenshot.

The location of the Blighted Village and Goblin Camp

Getting past Blighted Village will require you to sneak past the goblins, talk your way out of combat, or just trying to fight all of them. I recommend getting your persuasion character to pass some dialogue checks, but you can go about it any way you want. Past Blighted Village, keep going west until you reach the first part of the goblin camp. Then, head north to reach the main part of the camp and the Goblin Camp waypoint.

At this waypoint, you want to go southwest until you reach the courtyard area where the goblins are roasting various animals and talking amongst each other. From here, head north and you will find a giant ogre standing next to a set of large doors. Go through the doors and you will arrive in the Shattered Sanctum. To go any farther in the sanctum, you need to pass another dialogue check from the goblin guarding the entrance.

Once you're past, keep walking straight until you reach the large throne with Priestess Gut. Just past this throne on the right, there will be a wooden bridge that you can cross. Go across the bridge and turn to the left to find three goblins near a door. Enter the door past them and you will arrive in the Worg Pens. Go down the stairs on the right side to find goblin children outside of a cage with a bear in it.

Halsin is in a precarious spot when you first find him.

This bear is Halsin, as he transformed into this form to try and escape his goblin captors. Speak with the woman standing over the children and you will have some options. You can force them to free the bear with an intimidation check, allow them to keep torturing the bear, or choose combat. If you free Halsin from the cage, you have a few more options: attack the bear, attack the goblins, or leave the bear for the goblins to deal with.

It's at this point where you need to make a choice. If you want to have Halsin be a future companion and side with the Emerald Grove's Druids, then choose to attack the goblins. However, if you want to side with the goblins and potentially attack Emerald Grove, then killing Halsin is the way to go. Or you could simply leave both sides to their own devices and see who comes out on top.

In any case, you found Halsin, and you should be able to progress your questlines in Baldur's Gate 3.
