Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's first expansion The Teal Mask, will officially be released on September 13. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company revealed the date for the long-awaited The Teal Mask DLC, which is the first part in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion and will be followed by The Indigo Disk in Winter 2023. \

The Teal Mask is set in the new Kitakami area, and players will be able to take part in a grand festival that is being held in Mossui Town. As you'd expect, there are also several new legendary Pokemon to encounter and Pokemon from previous generations can be found in the wilderness.

So far, we've seen Shiftry, Vikavolt, Chingling, Ninetails, Yanma, and Milotic pop up in previous trailers for The Teal Mask, while footage of The Indigo Disk has revealed that wild Dewgong, Metagross, Espurr, Alcremie, Zebstrika, and Whimsicott call that land their home.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was first released in November 2022, and while the game did receive praise for its quality-of-life updates, colorful new Pokemon, and how it reinvigorated the franchise formula with new ideas, multiple technical issues held it back from being an all-time classic.

"While undercooked presentation and visual issues hold the games back, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are still the best mainline Pokemon games in years," Jake Dekker wrote in GameSpot's Pokemon Scarlet and Violet review. "They build off Pokemon Legends: Arceus's open-ended design in some thoughtful and surprising ways, and retain that same level of depth that the mainline series is known for."
