343iBot
There are plenty of strange quests you can start and finish in Baldur's Gate 3, but few are weirder than "Steal a Githyanki Egg." This quest is started by talking to Lady Esther, who is located right by the Trielta Crags waypoint in the mountain pass. Talking to Esther reveals that a group she works for has wanted a Githyanki Egg from the nearby Crehe Y'llek for "experiments." If you decide to help the woman with her request, you will need to know exactly where to find that all-important egg.How to find a Githyanki Egg in Baldur's Gate 3Your first step to completing this quest will be making your way through the Rosymorn Monastery and into Creche Y'llek. The monastery is where you can start the Blood of Lathander quest as well as learn some of the history of the Githyankis. You can reach the monastery by either taking a cable car down across a vista, which requires using a Strength check to kick a crane into motion, or heading down the west trail. The location of Lady Esther in the mountain pass. Either way, you will eventually reach the entrance to the Rosymorn Monastery. Make your way through the monastery by mainly descending any stairs, vines, or holes you can find. The entrance to Creche Y'llek is a basement door, so you will need to go down a few different levels to find it. You are looking for a large statue of Lathander past a talking skull. Once you reach the statue of Lathander, head to the left of it to find a staircase heading down. Eventually, the staircase leads to the "basement door," but this is actually the entrance to Creche Y'llek.Inside the creche, you need to pass a check after being stopped by the githyanki guard. If you pass, you will be allowed to wander the grounds and start the quest for a Githyanki Egg.Heading to the egg HatcheryFrom the entrance of the creche, you need to head down the northwest hallway, which is directly across from the Creche Y'llek waypoint. If you have entered a room called the Hatchery, you are actually in the wrong spot. Head back out and take the hallway next to you on the left. You should wind up in an area full of acid that makes up a lake of sorts. The location of the Githyanki Egg is where the yellow marker is placed. Inside this room is where you can find the Githyanki Egg, as they are incubated while sitting in the acid. However, you can't just waltz up to the egg and take it. Instead, you will either have to fight the three guards inside or manage to sneak past them and take the egg. The egg is sitting at the far end of the hatchery, right under the watchful eye of a guard nested on top of a small cliff in the middle of the room. Speaking to the guard will reveal that there is only one egg currently in the hatchery, and it's taking a long time to hatch. As far as I could tell, there is no option or check that allows you to convince the guard to let you simply take the egg and walk out of the creche scott-free. If you go near the egg, the guard on the cliff will tell you it is strictly forbidden. Also, if you walk on the rock that is sitting in the acid nearest the egg, you will be transported to a locked cage and combat will ensure. That rock is a trap meant to ward off intruders from taking the egg, so you will need to walk around the outside and approach the egg from the west.In any case, though, you are usually required to fight all of the guards inside, as touching the egg immediately starts combat. Defeat the guards and then pick up the egg to add it to your inventory. You could also try distracting the guard on the cliff with one character and using another to sneak around and take the egg while remaining hidden. The location of the Githyanki Egg (we had already taken it when this screenshot was taken)Once you have the egg, regardless of how you got it, head back to Lady Esther by fast traveling to the Trielta Crags waypoint. Here, you can choose to give her the egg, hang onto it for yourself, or even produce an owlbear egg, if you have one, to try and trick her. If you want to complete the Steal the Githyanki Egg quest, though, give the egg to Esther. We have many more guides to help you through Baldur's Gate 3, including romance options, quest guidance, build suggestions, and more.
