A multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has been officially announced as part of the game's wider reveal. Like in past years, the beta for Modern Warfare III will begin first on PlayStation but will eventually open to everyone. Here's everything we know so far about the beta.

Beta dates

The dates for the Modern Warfare III beta have not been confirmed yet. But a previous report from Insider-Gaming said there will be multiple beta weekends, taking place October 6-10 (for PlayStation) and October 12-16 (for everyone). These dates are not confirmed. This would be a few weeks later than the dates for 2022's Modern Warfare II, but that game also released in October and not November like Modern Warfare III will.

How to get in

The Modern Warfare III beta is free and open to everyone. However, people who preorder will get early access. Again, Activision has not shared any specific dates as of yet.

What's in the beta?

Activision has only said there will be a Modern Warfare III beta and has not yet shared any details on what it will include. But if history is any indication, it should contain a selection of maps and modes. Modern Warfare III will launch with 16 "modernized" maps from 2009's Modern Warfare II, so it's a safe bet that some of those will be featured in the beta. Rust would be a popular choice, no doubt.

Also expected to appear in the beta test are bugs, glitches, and other oddities. The beta test represents a work-in-progress version of the game, so it's expected to have some bumps.

Will progress carry forward to the full game?

Don't expect that to be the case, as Activision typically wipes the slate clean.
