As we get closer to the launch of Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red Studio has given us more information on what we can expect for the future of Cyberpunk 2077, and it appears it will be a lot harder to live a life of crime in the free 2.0 update.

The news comes from a Cyberpunk 2077 blog post, and it reads:

"Criminal activity is punished, runners are chased, and cyberpsychos are flatlined, no questions asked. All features in the system are designed to support clarity and the simple but expanded prevention loop."

The blog post goes on to explain that Night City PD won't tolerate the cyberpsychos who are running around shooting people. Players who do something illegal will be notified via the game UI. If they reach the maximum Heat level, they'll have the option to fight a Max Tac mini-boss with a few variations, but if a player decides to flee the scene, they'll run into a series of car chases and roadblocks.

Players will notice when the police are no longer looking for them because "NPCs will leave the scene in a way that is natural and intuitive." Even though updates improve how aggressive the police will be, it isn't meant to deter players from breaking the law. The new system in place is meant to be "a fun, meaningful experience."
