343iBot
The Starfield Mantis legendary ship and spacesuit can be yours fairly early in the campaign. The enemies and puzzles are quite tough, so make sure you're well-prepared. If you prioritize this mission, you'll have some of the game's best equipment very early into your adventure, which can go a long way to keeping you upright and victorious. Our guide discusses where you can find the Mantis base, as well as the challenges you can expect therein. How to get the Mantis legendary ship in StarfieldThe Starfield Mantis legendary ship is part of its own quest following its namesake. Once you have it, make sure that it's being tracked so the objective marker appears on your map.How to start the Mantis questThe Mantis quest comes from a data slate called "Secret Outpost!" usually held by Spacer enemies. In our case, we found it upon looting a Spacer enemy in the Nova Galactic Starstation during a main quest called The Old Neighborhood. Others on the team came across this mission in other ways, though the commonality seems to be Spacer enemies will be the ones to drop the slate.Regardless, if you have the dataslate, check your inventory and listen to it. You'll learn of a secret base on Denebola I-B in the Denebola system. The dataslate marks the location of the secret outpost. Enemies and lootWe were only level 8 when we began this quest, and some enemies were already level 25 or higher. Things were quite tough, since hostiles packed a punch, but we were still able to manage in the end. Here's what you can expect when you're doing the Starfield Mantis quest:The first area in the facility has lots of Spacer mercenaries. Due to cramped areas, you'll be able to take out several with your grenades. Some opponents here carry rare and epic items, including energy weapons like the Arc Welder and Orion.Prior to the large chamber with Arc Welder-carrying foes, you might find the Bounty Hunter Spacesuit, which has legendary rarity. It's got over 120 points in physical, energy, and EM defenses.Upon reaching the bowels of the base, you'll encounter bots--i.e. robo sentries, robo dogs, and turrets. These, too, are at a higher level. From left to right: You'll fight enemies on the snowy hills leading to the base; The Mercs all love to use energy weapons; Later, you'll go up against robo dogs and sentries. The Mantis floor puzzleEventually, you'll have to solve the Starfield Mantis puzzle. This takes place in an enclosed room. On the floor, you'll see multiple rows with letters. And, on the far end, you'll spot several turrets. Stepping on the wrong panel will activate the turrets, and they will rip you apart within seconds. One of the Spacer enemies has the Sic Semper Tyrannis dataslate. So, how exactly do we get past this part? Well, if you check one of the Spacer enemies in the base, you might find a dataslate called Leon Voclain - Sic Semper Tyrannis. The solution, therefore, is to step on the correct plates as you spell out the word "TYRANNIS" until you reach the other side of the room. You can then press the button to unlock the gate, which will also deactivate the turrets.Gingerly walk across the room while making sure that you spell out Tyrannis. The Mantis spacesuit setAfter the above section, you'll find yourself in a narrow corridor. Beyond that are two more rooms, which have turrets, robo dogs, and robo sentries. Since our level was quite low, we opted to make a run for it while popping medpacks in case we took damage. We then reached the hangar bay where the Mantis legendary ship was docked. Before heading to the ship, check the side room to find the living quarters of the previous pilot. There, you'll be able to pick up the full Mantis armor, which consists of the Assisted Carry Mantis Pack, Headhunter's Mantis Space Helmet, and Mirrored Mantis Spacesuit. All of these are legendary items with high stats and installed mods.We can't confirm if the loot and mods/affixes are the same for everyone else. In our case, the jetpack had the Chameleon mod, which caused our character to turn invisible while sneaking and not moving.Grab the full Mantis set from the mannequin in the display stand. Mantis legendary ship: Stats and additional tipsWhen you're ready, go to the docking bay and activate the switch. This will raise the vessel and bring it back to the surface. All you need to do now is eliminate or avoid any hostiles that you didn't kill earlier, since you still need to exit the dungeon. The Starfield Mantis legendary ship, also known as the Razorleaf, has the following stats:Reactor: Class-ACrew: 2Cargo: 420/160 shieldedJump: 19 light yearsShield: 390Weapons (Las/Par/Msl): 6/16/36As you can see, it's superior to the Frontier, your first ship in the game. It also has a shielded cargo hold by default, which means there's a chance you won't get detected when smuggling contraband items. Another cool factor is that it's got its own armory, which you can reach by climbing up a ladder. There's a possibility that you'll find epic and legendary items there, too.The Razorleaf ship as it appears in the menu. However, there's one more important tidbit to consider once you're actually flying the ship: some Spacers will flee when they see you. Due to the tales surrounding the ship, you'll get mistaken for the original pilot. Because of this, you could potentially lose out on XP, as hostiles might grav jump and escape instead of fighting you.In any case, that's all you need to know about how to get the Mantis legendary ship in Starfield.
